AcSSA - Afrique Verte Niger

Afrique Verte has been active in Niger since 1990. In 2005, the association "AcSSA - Afrique Verte Niger" has been created, composed of leaders from Niger which run the project.

AcSSA - Afrique Verte Niger promotes improvement of sustainable food security of local inhabitants. Activities are carried out in the regions of Tera-Tillabery, Say-Kollo, Zinder, Agadez and Niamey. In these areas, AcSSA - Afrique Verte provides support to more than 200 small-farmer organizations dealing with cereals grouped in regional associations.

The training of rural leaders is essential for improvement of food security and for better management and marketing of stocks from areas of excess to areas of deficit. Afrique Verte promotes creation and cooperation among small-farmer organizations for better distribution of cereals at the national level. The NGO organizes cereal marketseach year that bring together small-farmer organizations and allow them to trade and obtain information about the cereal market. Recently, Afrique Verte also provided support for small businesses that process cereals and facilitates meetings between small-farmer organizations and private traders who open large markets for them.
